A Vegan Wedding Cake at Swan Lake Caterers, Manorville, NY

I was excited when this bride reached out to me about creating her vegan wedding cake because I had actually worked with her family before. Her aunt, Jen from Verbena Designs, a vegan-owned floral studio for weddings, has been a longtime client of mine. So it was really nice being part of her niece’s wedding day.

The couple chose a three-tier vegan wedding cake with three different flavor combinations, which is great since the couple and guests get to experience something different in each tier.

The flavors they chose were:

-Funfetti cake with raspberry filling

-Carrot cake (the groom’s favorite) with Cinnamon Caramel

- Strawberry cake with chocolate

They wanted a simple, but beautiful textured design with elements taken from an inspiration photo the bride sent over. She also dropped off her cake topper at my cake studio a few weeks before the wedding. I kept it sealed properly because I was so nervous about it breaking.

The cake was set up and delivered at Swan Lake Caterers in Manorville, NY. The florals were provided by Verbena Designs and tied everything together beautifully.

If you know anything about wedding cakes, you know they’re very heavy! Some I can’t comfortably pick up or deliver on my own. So if you ever see a spiky red haired man with me on delivery day, that’s my husband, Dominick. He’s my vegan muscle and takes just as much care and attention to handling these deliveries with me as I do.

At the venue, he snapped a picture of me as I was putting the cake topper on and it is now one of my favorite photos that has been taken of me while working.

The bride also ordered a charcuterie board the morning of her wedding to enjoy while getting ready before the big moment. Since their wedding colors were purples and reds, I added matching flowers to the charcuterie board to go with the overall aesthetic. One of the fun parts about weddings is seeing all of the personal details come together.

The couple also ordered some vegan and gluten free cupcakes so certain guests who were gluten free could enjoy dessert too. But in all the madness of delivery and set up, I forgot to take a photo of them. They were handed to the catering staff at Swan Lake to display later that evening.
